Slips can be prevented, usually at very little cost and with great benefit to both those at risk and responsible parties. Whilst our service represents the most detailed assessment process and produces a document that will provide sturdy defence against litigation, there are simple and straight forward precautions that can be taken in the meantime to reduce the likelihood of a slip occurring. Grip Potential offer the following info sheets via email.

A Grip Potential report includes practical advice on how to reduce risks, from simple steps such as controlling footwear to more drastic anti-slip floor treatments. Reducing the risk of slips occurring on a floor doesn't have to be costly; additional entrance matting, controlling staff footwear or altering lighting can have a significant impact. Unlike most other slip assessment companies we don't sell any anti-slip products, allowing us to provide a completely independent and impartial service.
Test methods claiming to give a definitive risk of slip are plenty. Unfortunately many claims made are pseudo-science and whilst offering a quick, cheap and easy test do not provide a realistic measure of slip risk. Whilst some methods may be accurate, Grip Potential only use methods recommended by the HSE, as it is highly unlikely prosecuting parties will do the same. Further discussion of various test methods can be found on the Test Methods page here. |
The HSE recognise the significant proportion of injuries that slips account for and as such offer a range of guidance and research papers on the topic. See the HSE Resources page for free downloadable guidance sheets and links to other useful slip risk assessment guidance. HSE resource quick links The HSE also offer an independent 'ask an expert' service contactable on 0845 345 0055 or via online form.
